Prescription Drug Discount Cards Popular in the Fight Against Rising Costs

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, half of American adults take prescription medicine everyday. Of those almost one-third take between one and three medications, and 17% take four or more. When you consider the large role prescription medicines play in the average adult, it's no wonder the high cost of medicine is such a widely discussed topic.

Popular Views On Drug Costs

Recent polls show that the general public contributes the rising cost of prescription drugs largely to the high profits made by the pharmaceutical companies - nearly 70% of those polled cited this reason. And while pharmaceutical companies state that research and development costs are behind the high prices, 81% of those polled believe that reason isn't justifiable, and the companies still charge more for medications than necessary. This said, it's no wonder one-half of adults have an unfavorable opinion of pharmaceutical companies.

In the fight against rising costs, many consumers are turning to prescription drug discount card programs to find relief. These programs offer immediate discounts on popular drugs, making the vital medicines people rely on affordable.
