There's nothing like seeing your child smile. That toothy grin will be with them for a lifetime, so it's important to help your child maintain their dental health now! Many families rely on individual dental insurance to pay for their children's dental check ups. Without it, the cost can be cumbersome. However, it's important to not let the availability of individual health insurance coverage limit your child's access to dental care. The American Dental Association recommends two check-up visits per year for a reason. Lack of preventative care can lead to significant dental damage - and costs - down the road. However, it's just as important to encourage your child to maintain a healthy mouth routine in between visits to the dentist. Remember to have your child:
- Brush at least twice daily with fluoride toothpaste. Children under two should use water or special non-fluoride toothpaste.
- Floss daily.
- Eat healthy and limit sugary, sticky snacks.
- Get enough calcium.
