Sufferers of migraines and other severe headache disorders know the extreme pain they can cause, but a recent study has found that most of them avoid emergency departments for treatment. Many just sought better or different medications, but those who did seek ER care cited unbearable pain or unavailability of their primary care doctor. Those who did seek treatment in ERs were found to be more likely to use the department for overall healthcare needs as well – often those with low cost health insurance with poor coverage. Researchers noted that for these individuals it "may be worthwhile for hospital administrators to identify these patients and figure out how to make primary care accessible for them." Related Links
